A Century of Community Banking

Timberland Bank first opened its doors in 1915 in downtown Hoquiam, Washington, a booming timber town near the coast. Founded as Southwest Washington Savings and Loan by four local businessmen — F.G. Foster, Dr. J.F. McDonald, E.B. Arthaud, and P.J. Morgan — the institution was created to help settlers borrow money to build and purchase homes. Over a century later, the bank has grown to over $2 billion in assets and 24 branch locations across Grays Harbor, Thurston, Lewis, Pierce, Kitsap, and King counties, all while remaining under local leadership.
