Our Story

Founded in 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee, The Refined Man was built on a simple vision: create a barbershop with an upscale feel and unique vibe that goes beyond the "basic" barbershop experience. In 2016, owner and Master Barber Shawna Vansyckle relocated the business to the Olympia area, and from a single one-room shop it has grown into three thriving locations across Western Washington—Olympia, Centralia, and Elma.

Shawna brings extensive training from both American Crew and Paul Mitchell, and her passion for the craft is reflected in every cut, shave, and style.

The Elma location is managed by Danielle Neves, an experienced stylist with over a decade in the beauty industry. The team also includes massage therapist Chantel Todd, who specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, and traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage, offering tailored therapeutic sessions to complement your grooming routine.
