The Master Gardener Foundation of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties (MGFGHPC) is a non-profit organization staffed 100% by volunteers. Our mission is to support and promote the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener Program in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties through financial support, continuing education, and ongoing volunteer engagement. We provide 100% of the financial support for the WSU Master Gardener Program in our two counties.

What We Do

We raise funds to assist Master Gardeners in educational outreach, scholarship programs, plant clinics, workshops, participation in county fairs, and demonstration gardens throughout Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. The WSU Master Gardener volunteers are university-trained community educators who provide non-biased, science-based gardening information to the public.

Key Programs and Events

• Home & Garden Show — An annual spring one-stop gardening education and shopping event featuring how-to seminars, regional gardening vendors, gifts, and home-remodeling ideas, all under one roof in Elma.
• Annual Garden Tour — Each summer, we offer the public an opportunity to walk through select private gardens in the local area with Master Gardeners on hand to share information.
• Plant Clinics — During spring and summer, Master Gardeners set up clinics at various locations to assist the public with plant problems and gardening questions.
• Speakers Bureau — Expert presentations on a variety of gardening-related topics available for clubs, schools, businesses, churches, and civic organizations.
• Ask a Master Gardener — Submit your home gardening questions online and a trained volunteer will provide a research-based answer.

Become a Master Gardener

The Master Gardener Program is for people with a passion for plants, a drive to learn, and a commitment to serve. Training covers over 100 hours of instruction, and volunteers give back a minimum of 40 hours of service to become certified. Applications for the annual training class are typically available June 1 through August 30. Training is offered through WSU's Green School, with online classes beginning in the fall and hands-on sessions available locally.
